Sabbath Sermon Experience 8-1-2026

What happens when we receive news that feels like a final verdict? In Isaiah 38, we encounter the story of Hezekiah, a king who was told plainly that his time was up and that he would not live. Yet rather than accepting that word as the last word, he turned his face and prayed with everything he had. Before the prophet who delivered the message could even leave the house, God answered. Fifteen more years were added to his life. This story reminds us that prayer is not a formality or a last resort. It is a direct line to a God who hears, sees, and responds with urgency. We are invited to consider the moments in our own lives when circumstances or diagnoses or losses felt irreversible, and to ask whether we truly believed that God could intervene. Hezekiah's story says that He can, and that He does, sometimes faster than we expect.
