Sabbath Sermon Experience

Nov 29, 2025    Dr Frederick L. Maragh

This powerful meditation takes us to Mount Nebo, where Moses stood at the threshold of the Promised Land yet was told he could not enter. What unfolds is a profound exploration of God's amazing grace, personal relationship with His people, and the consequences of our actions—even when forgiven. We journey through Moses' final days on the plains of Moab, witnessing an intimate portrait of a God who remains close to His servant despite past failures. The sermon reveals how Moses, at 120 years old, was commanded to write songs of praise, charge Joshua with leadership, and view the land he would never physically enter—all while maintaining deep communion with the Almighty. The turning point came 40 years earlier at Meribah, where Moses struck the rock twice in anger instead of speaking to it as commanded, misrepresenting God before Israel. Yet Mount Nebo speaks not of divine harshness, but of a personal God who buried Moses Himself and soon after resurrected him to glory. We see Moses appearing with Christ at the Transfiguration, proving that while sin has consequences, God's mercy ultimately triumphs. This message challenges us to examine our own relationship with God—do we trust Him completely? Do we represent Him accurately? Can we, like Moses, maintain faithfulness even when facing disappointment? The eternal God remains our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
