Sabbath Sermon Experience 6-20-2026
This powerful message takes us into one of the most challenging seasons of David's life, when he was literally on the run, moving from cave to cave, mountain to mountain, with no permanent place to rest. Yet remarkably, this wasn't a season of defeat—it was a season of divine preparation. While David had already been anointed as king in 1 Samuel 16, he didn't seize power or force his way onto the throne. Instead, he chose humility and waited on God's timing, even when he had opportunities to take matters into his own hands. What's fascinating is that during this unstable period, something beautiful happened: the broken, the indebted, the distressed, and the discontented all gathered around him in the cave of Adullam. Rather than seeing themselves as victims, they recognized David as a type of Christ—someone in whose presence they could find hope and purpose. David became their captain not by self-promotion, but by the people's recognition of God's presence in him. This reminds us that our seasons of instability, uncertainty, and seeming failure are often God's classroom where He is shaping us for greater purposes. Like David, we may feel we're running with nowhere permanent to land, yet God is building, elevating, and promoting us even in the wilderness. The cave becomes a place of family reunion, leadership development, and divine encounter—proving that we can be climbing even when we appear to be running.
